I almost shut down my web agency before I ever figured out what it could really become.
Enthused clients quickly became very upset. I thought, “Not at me, right?” Because they loved their new websites and the compliments from their peers. “What an amazing website!” They loved it, it was worth the money, but that excitement faded fast. The additional clients they hoped for… never came. What’s the use of a website without new clients? The realization crept in, even though I had delivered on my promise, more had to be done. That more was… marketing.
After developing the right solution, I help many businesses. For a while I had clients across the country, and I was happy. But somewhere along the way it started feeling like I was just working for money alone. I knew I was helping people, but how much can you really feel that through emails and the occasional Zoom call? I needed to see the happiness & excitement. I wanted to see their businesses grow. Walk into their local shop, meet their kids, become their friends, and know the people I helped. There was only one way to achieve that… Help the people in my city. The city that helped me become who I am today.
I got started helping local businesses and quickly found what felt like a thorn in my side. Marketing was dominated by big business. Local businesses were struggling on their won. They should be able to play the game without being outspent into irrelevance by national brands that have no real connection to this city. And that is very possible with the right focus. Focus Web Agency was founded in Las Vegas in 2022 by Franky Magana, a web and marketing professional who had been navigating the digital space since 2017. What drove him to start the agency was something he kept watching happen to good businesses: they’d get burned by agencies making big promises, end up with websites that underperformed, and walk away frustrated with their money gone and nothing to show for it. Franky built Focus Web Agency as the honest alternative to that.
